The task of bombing the terrorist camps at balakot was performed by the squadron no.6 and 7.The fighter jets used by IAF were mirage 2000.Total of 12 Mirage 2000 fighter jets were used to perform the task and 4 eurofighter jets were used to provide cover to these mirage fighter jets. Initially a group of fighter jets headed towards pakistan,but pakistani fighter jets immediately scrambled toward the border after the Pakistani radars and AWACS detected indian jets. At this point indian jets diverted towards Bahawalpur making the false impression that IAF was targeting terrorist camp at Bahawalpur.Here 12 indian Mirage fighter jets flying at a low altitude got a chance to enter the Balakot region and to carry out the bombing on terrorist camps.The pakistani fighter jets were 150 km aways and IAF Jets performed the task very swiftly in 21 minutes and returned back to their bases at India.
During this mission accurate information about the camp was provided by Indian intelligence agency RAW and the accurate satellite images of the target spots are provided by ISRO satellites.The missles used by the Indian jets were israeli SPICE missiles.These missiles are very accurate in hitting the targets.The whole mission was a very secret,and very few people were aware of this mission.The mission was performed at 3.45 am on 26th February 2019 and around 11 am indian side gave a statement about these airstrikes.Although pakistan had refused about presence of terrorist camps at balakot and said that Indian jets only dropped the bombs on trees and no casualty occurred.But the Indian side claimed that total number of terrorist killed in airstrike were around 300 to 350.After the air strikes pakistan sealed the whole area and allowed no one to enter the area.Thus pakistan will take time to accept the reality but one thing is clear to pakistan that now they will have to face strict action by india if anything like Pulwama happened again.
