India Takes the Lead in AI Skills Race, Secures 4th Global Ranking

India's prominence in the AI field is evident as it ranks fourth globally, with a significant surge in job postings for GenAI roles on various platforms. The Indian workforce, despite its substantial size of 47 lakh tech professionals, is struggling to meet the demand for AI experts. The gap is predicted to worsen in the coming years, leading to a shift of 22% in India's job landscape due to emerging AI roles. Job postings for GenAI positions have increased by 50% from July 2022 to July 2023, with a staggering 12,300% rise in related job searches.
Bangalore offers the highest salaries for ML experts, while Chennai lags behind with salaries 5% below the national average. Companies like HyperVerge, Razorthink, and IQVIA are offering attractive compensation packages, reaching up to several lakhs for machine learning engineer roles. Data analysts with programming skills are enjoying the highest salaries among data scientists. AI researchers earn between INR 3.0 to 35.0 lakh, with an average of INR 9.0 lakh. Other roles like deep learning engineers and AI consultants are also witnessing a surge in demand.

Globally, top companies such as Netflix, Amazon, Google, and Goldman Sachs are willing to offer substantial compensation to AI/ML experts well-versed in frameworks and language models. The demand for AI skills has been compared to the demand for NFL quarterbacks, highlighting the industry's perceived value.
The popularity of generative AI is evident, with job listings and LinkedIn profiles referencing GPT and ChatGPT experiencing significant growth. Microsoft's 2023 Work Trend Index identifies analytical judgment, flexibility, and emotional intelligence as essential skills for industry leaders. LinkedIn has introduced AI-focused features, including generating recruiter messages, job descriptions, and user profiles.

In light of the growing demand, candidates seeking AI roles must acquire core programming languages, frameworks, and abstract concept skills to keep up with the evolving industry trends.

BHARAT NCAP-New Crash Test

  1. India has launched the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) under the leadership of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, introducing its own crash safety assessment system. This landmark initiative, commencing from October 1, 2023, represents a significant step forward in bolstering road safety across the nation.

  2. Car manufacturers now have the voluntary option to subject their vehicles to testing aligned with the Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) 197, a directive set by the government. This move underscores the commitment to enhancing vehicle safety and performance.

  3. Three tests will be conducted as below:
    • frontal impact test
    • side impact test
    • side pole impact test

The evaluation will cover three areas: Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), Child Occupant Protection (COP) and Fitment of Safety Assist Technologies.  NCAP will assign star ratings to vehicles based on their performance in tests evaluating the safety of Adult Occupants (AOP) and Child Occupants (COP). These ratings offer valuable insights into a vehicle's potential response in the event of an accident, empowering consumers to make well-informed choices.

  4. The front impact test will be against an offset deformable barrier at a speed of 64kph, which is the same as the Global NCAP protocol. All vehicles also need to meet the pedestrian protection norms and the pole impact test will only be carried out for cars securing 3 stars and above.

Additionally for any car to carry a 3 or higher star rating, it must also have electronic stability control and front seat belt reminders fitted. Seat belt reminders are a good addition to the protocol, however, given their low cost and ease of implementation, this should have been included for all seats.
  5. The program's emphasis lies in raising safety standards for motor vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tonnes in India, as highlighted by the government. By stimulating demand for safer vehicles, the initiative intends to prompt manufacturers to align their offerings with the preferences of safety-conscious consumers.

  6. The cost of testing a car under the Bharat NCAP programme is around Rs 60 lakh, whereas a similar test would require around Rs 2.5 crore if done overseas. The government envisions that the heightened safety benchmarks established through this program will bolster the global competitiveness of Indian automobiles. This shift could potentially open doors to expanded export opportunities for domestic car manufacturers, driving growth in the industry.

India emerged victorious over Ireland by a margin of 2 runs using the DLS method.

Jasprit Bumrah made a stunning return to the international cricket scene, making a significant impact. Although he conceded a boundary on the first ball he bowled, Bumrah swiftly claimed a wicket on the following delivery. He didn't stop there, as he secured another dismissal on the fifth ball. The first 10 overs witnessed India utilizing six different bowlers, resulting in a dominant phase for the team.

This strategic bowling display led to Ireland struggling at 59/6. However, the tides turned as Barry McCarthy and Curtis Campher mounted a spirited fightback for the home team. Their partnership yielded 57 runs off 44 balls for the seventh wicket. Campher's contribution was notable, scoring 39 off 33 balls before departing. McCarthy continued the offensive, finishing the innings with a flourish, including a six, and remained unbeaten at 51 off 33 balls.
